History

4 National Circuit is the final and ultimate stage of a 10 year ISPT program to develop the northern end of the National Circuit parliamentary precinct. The program commenced in 1999 with the purchase of the Robert Garran Offices and the adjacent 1 and 3-5 National Circuit and their redevelopment into purpose built A-Grade office accommodation for senior government departments. The purchase of these assets provided the opportunity for organic growth and the development of relationships with senior government departments.

Due to its central location, 4 National Circuit is the precinct’s natural hub. Therefore the brief from ISPT to the architect was to design a building that would not only sit well in its neighbourhood, but would actively enhance the experience of being there. To ensure the final design reflected the needs and desires of the government departments who would use this precinct, ISPT convened a number of consultative forums. Suggestions were taken on board and integrated into the final design, resulting in a vibrant urban village that accommodates the needs of Australia’s public service professionals.
